How Many Of Your Business Secrets Are On Employee’s Phones

by | Apr 21, 2020

Your employees are at home. They’re working hard from their home office, their living room, their kitchen table, whatever works for them. They’re using personal devices and their own internet server, and they’re accessing your company data to keep things up and running.

You can’t prevent that right now, but you should know who has access to what. Where is your data? What is it being used for? Have your employees received critical training for handling that data securely?

Most businesses have no idea where their data is, with no policies specifically written to protect data stored on smartphones… this is bad.
The good news? The internet is still working during while the world is in crisis. Use downtime and regular employee meeting times to make sure you’re aware of the location of your assets: who has them, where they’re stored, who can access them, what they’re being used for.

BYOD is a normal part of life in our digital age, and it brings an incredible amount of convenience to the table when you have to work from home. But it also increases your risk. Stay informed, protect your data.
